Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year

Dear Local District Northeast Community,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! We have been diligently planning for students to return, and our schools, principals, and teachers are eager for the first day on August 15.

As we enter a new year with COVID-19 still part of our reality, I want you to know that we have taken every measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. Our health protocols protect everyone in our school communities and we are not letting our guard down. We have implemented numerous mitigation measures and I encourage you to visit https://ldnortheast.net/covid-19-updates/ to follow all the latest Los Angeles Unified COVID-19 updates.

We are also asking our families to partner with us to ensure that students are at school every day and on time. Students learn best when they are on-time and in regular attendance with their teachers. This is an important aspect of a student's academic journey, so please know that we are here to help.

Finally, Superintendent Carvalho recently unveiled the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. This is the guiding document that will ensure our students are Ready for the World. The ambitious goals outlined in the Strategic Plan are student centered and focus on shaping students academically and holistically so that students are prepared for college or career as soon as they graduate from one of our schools. Read more from the Strategic Plan here: https://achieve.lausd.net/strategicplan.

As always, the Local District is here to support you. If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (818) 252-5400, or LDNortheast@lausd.net.

Welcome to a new year!

Andres Chait
Superintendent
Local District Northeast
